Project Description

The Cable Enterprise, a specialised cable-laying vessel, underwent a comprehensive demobilisation while docked at AV Dawson Port in Middlesbrough. This process involved the removal of operational equipment and reconfiguration to prepare the vessel for its next deployment. Key elements of the project included the safe and efficient handling of heavy loads, which required expert rigging and lifting operations.

Scope of Work: Croft Rigging and Liftings were appointed to oversee and execute all rigging tasks and lifting operations throughout the demobilisation process. Their responsibilities included:

  • • Rigging & Lifting Operations: The team managed the secure attachment and controlled movement of various components, ensuring precision and safety during all lifts.
    • Use of Lifting Equipment: Operations were carried out using both the quayside dock crane and the vessel’s own knuckle boom crane to facilitate the removal and repositioning of heavy equipment.
    • Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to industry regulations and safety protocols was maintained, ensuring minimal risk to personnel and infrastructure.

Conclusion

The demobilisation of the Cable Enterprise was successfully completed on schedule, with all lifting and rigging activities executed efficiently and safely. Croft Rigging and Liftings played a critical role in ensuring seamless operations, leveraging their expertise to handle complex loads in a controlled and methodical manner.

This project highlights the effectiveness of well-coordinated lifting operations in the maritime sector, reinforcing the importance of skilled rigging teams and strategic use of lifting equipment in vessel demobilisation processes.
