Project Description

As part of a scheduled six-month maintenance program, the removal and reinstallation of the Re-Boiler vessel penny ends was carried out to facilitate high-pressure water jet cleaning of the internal tanks. The project required precision lifting and controlled movement of the penny ends to ensure safe access for cleaning operations.

Scope of Work: Croft Rigging and Lifting were appointed to execute all rigging and lifting operations throughout the five-week shutdown period. Their responsibilities included:

  • • Lifting & Fleeting Operations: Utilizing multiple chain blocks, the penny ends were carefully lifted and fleeted away from the tanks, creating the necessary clearance for cleaning.
    • Provision of Equipment: All required rigging and lifting equipment, including chain blocks, slings, and secure lifting points, were supplied and certified for the task.
    • Lifting Documentation: Comprehensive lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements were developed to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
    • Safety & Coordination: Close collaboration with cleaning teams ensured safe execution, minimizing downtime while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.

Conclusion

The project was successfully completed within the scheduled shutdown period, with all lifting operations conducted efficiently and without incident. The expertise of Croft Rigging and Lifting ensured the safe removal, repositioning, and reinstallation of the penny ends, allowing maintenance teams to effectively clean the tanks and restore operational efficiency.

This project underscores the critical role of expert rigging and lifting solutions in industrial maintenance, highlighting the importance of meticulous planning, skilled execution, and stringent safety measures in high-risk environments.
